Just want to know if others are seeing the same mostly. Fixes would be great, but I have a feeling that the short term fix is just rolling back the client version while waiting for Amazon to address this bug. Our project uses the PCoIP protocol for our Amazon Workspaces, unfortunately, which I know is more prone to these sorts of issues, but there are hundreds of Workspaces on our project so switching them all over to WSP is not a simple change to make.

I wanted to see if others here have experienced the same issue. We are temporarily trying to apply bandaid fixes of rolling back the client version to try and help users on a one-by-one basis, but this is a huge bug with the new release if it is the case. We have multiple projects across the country who are reporting the same issues with the same timeline. This is characteristic of issues we have had in the past where the user will have a connection issue that causes the client to briefly lose the association with the USB devices and dropping the audio, but now it is happening to many more users and without a clear issue with their internet connection to point to as the culprit. For the headsets, the issue usually manifests as the headset working fine for a few minutes after the user signs into their Amazon Workspace or after troubleshooting has been performed, but then after a few minutes the headset will stop working inside Amazon Workspaces. Since we use USB headsets, this makes me think that the issue is with how USB devices are being handled rather than something specifically with the audio drivers, if I had to guess. There have also been some strange issues that have occurred alongside this with users' keyboards acting strange inside Amazon Workspaces.

This has correlated with the release of the 5.0 Amazon Workspaces client release at the beginning of this month (June 2022) which started getting deployed to our devices via software center in the past several weeks. The Issue: With all the above in mind, we have started to experience a noticeable increase in the number of audio issues that are not able to be resolved using our typical methods and do not seem to correlate to low internet upload speeds or high latency. Obviously there are some issues that we can't fix this way either due to hardware issues or network issues on the user's home network connection, but that has historically been the exception and not the rule. Especially persistent issues may require more finagling and/or rebooting the Amazon Workspaces instance itself.

Since we use the desktop client on company managed PCs, a lot of times the way that we fix these issues is by remoting into the host PC and messing with the settings there (wrong default audio device, host PC audio was muted, disable audio enhancements, etc.) and then restarting the windows audio service inside Amazon Workspaces. A frequent issue that we have to deal with is audio issues, which is obviously a big problem when most of the users' primary job function is to answer calls.

I am aware that pkgs.buildFHSUserEnv exists, but it’s not clear to me how to combine it with the above. Some background first: I work as a field service IT tech for a call center that is using Amazon Workspaces to facilitate remote working for the call center staff. I’m guessing that this is because the executable is expecting to find ICU in FHS locations. 5310 abort (core dumped) result/opt/workspacesclient/workspacesclient

Even better would be support for the command key to remap to the ctrl key as on the Mac client. You can use Amazon WorkSpaces for all of your day-to-day computing needs such as editing documents, accessing web applications, and sending/receiving email.

I’m trying to make a Nix package for Amazon Workspaces.
